The University of Portland will host "Expanding Your Horizons," a career awareness conference for girls in grades six through 12, on Saturday, March 18.
The conference will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the university, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd.
The conference will consist of hands-on workshops that introduce girls to occupations in math, engineering, science and other non-traditional occupations that require solid high school math and science skills. Women scientists, mathematicians, engineers, tradeswomen and other community professionals will serve as role models, share career information and necessary education. Workshop sessions for parents and educators will be offered as well.
The conference costs $5 for students and adults alike. For more information, visit www.eyhportland.org.
