Author and talk show host Tavis Smiley will read from his book, "Accountable: Making America as Good as Its Promise" at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at The Seattle Public Library, Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Microsoft Auditorium, Level 1.
The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Limited parking in the Central Library garage will be available for a $5 special event rate.
"Accountable" provides facts, statistics and real-life examples to show how current issues such as health care, education, the economy, unequal justice and the environment are affecting America. The book offers suggested solutions to politicians, corporations, organizations, community leaders and citizens.
Smiley has written a number of best-selling books, including "The Covenant of Black America" and "The Covenant in Action." He is the host of "The Tavis Smiley Show" on Public Radio International and "Tavis Smiley" on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). He lives in Los Angeles.
The program is presented in partnership with the Elliott Bay Book Co. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
