Shawn Anthony Mayes has died. He was born in Portland on Sept. 16, 1970.
He was the fourth child born to Louis James Mayes Jr., and Lucille Elizabeth Brown.
He was raised by Glenda Joyce Mayes.
Mayes attended Boise Elementary School and later attended Grant High School.
Growing up he worked with his father doing janitorial work. While a youth he worked at California Snackery, a neighborhood store. Mayes also worked at ABM Janitorial Service.
In 2005, he met and married Kristie Gates. Mayes entered the marriage with four wonderful children whom he loved and adored.
Mayes was well-known throughout the Northeast community and easily engaged in conversations with most people he met. His sense of humor brought laughter and smiles to many.
He will most definitely be remembered for his fun-loving and positive attitude.
One of Mayes' favorite youthful activities was playing basketball. He loved family functions, playing dominoes, barbecues and being with his family and friends.
Last year was a turning point in Mayes' life, when he started reading the Bible and praying. Most importantly, he asked for forgiveness for his sins and received salvation.
