The holiday season is here and the Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division needs your help.
The Sunshine Division is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides emergency food and clothing to families and individuals in need year round. The need is even greater this year, and there are a number of ways individuals or organizations can help.  If you are interested in any of these opportunities, contact Sara Gourley 503-823-2116 or sara@sunshinedivision.org for more information.

Food Box Delivery:  This year Sunshine Division volunteers will deliver 4,000 holiday food boxes to Portlanders in need on Saturday, December 20 starting at 7am!  Deliveries will begin at 7am from the Sunshine Division warehouse at 687 N. Thompson Street as well as Police Bureau precincts (bring your Portland map!).

Lloyd Center "Magical Day of Giving:" This is the second year that Sunshine Division is teaming up with Lloyd Center for the mall's "Magical Season of Giving!" However, the Magical Day of Giving is a new event this year. On December 13, several Lloyd Center stores will offer special discounts to shoppers who have purchased a "Day of Giving" ticket. All money from ticket sales will be donated to Sunshine Division. Volunteers are needed to sell these tickets at mall entrances on December 13.

Gift Wrappers: Do you love wrapping gifts? Sunshine Division is hosting a gift wrapping table at Lloyd Center – all donations go directly to Sunshine Division. We are looking for experienced gift wrappers to work a variety of shifts December 20 - 24. This is a perfect activity for groups of friends, families, and clubs or sports teams. The table will need 6 - 8 volunteers per shift. Volunteers need to be at least 14 years of age and should have experience wrapping gifts.

Food & Fund Drive: Your organization, team or group of friends can partner with the Sunshine Division to host a food & fund drive at anytime. The need for food is present all year long; food drives at other times of the year are encouraged. You set the dates, and the Sunshine Division will provide information, barrels and other assistance as needed. Your organization can create a successful food drive by tailoring it to your organization's personality. You let us know when you want the barrels delivered and picked up. You can set a goal for the amount of pounds your organization hopes to raise, and we can let you know how you are doing along the way! Set a theme, set a goal, get creative and have fun!
