Elaine Hayes, wife of Ralph Hayes, autographs a book about her husband for Rudolph and Eleanor Hill at a tribute honoring the late historian and teacher Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Museum of History and Industry. Hayes taught in the Seattle and Bellevue schools and the University of Washington, was project historian and curator for the Northwest Black Pioneers Centennial and author of "Northwest Black Pioneers." He died in 1999. Many former students and colleagues gathered to honor Hayes and celebrate the publication of a book entitled "Remembering Ralph Hayes," by Mary Willix and Elaine Hayes.
