The first fundraiser for the 2009 Youth Summit features local artists, Madgesdiq, right, Blacque Butterfly, Ro Deezy, X, Mic Crenshaw and Yonasda Lonewolf-Muhammad of the Lakota tribe, in a program this Saturday, Aug. 9 from 1 to 8:30 p.m. at the M.A.C.E. Center, 126 NE Alberta St. Organizers are calling for "a DAY of FUN and Entertainment for a Positive Purpose of Peace and Unity for our Community." Tickets are $10 adults, $5 for youths, $3 for anyone with 5 cans of food. All proceeds go toward the Third Annual Youth Summit — Bridging the Family to Stop the Violence in February 2009. The event is in memory of Davonte Lightfoot, 14, a Benson High School student shot to death at the corner of N. Killingsworth and Albina Streets on Jan. 7, 2007.
