Paul Knauls, owner of the iconic North East Portland hair salon Geneva's Shear Perfection, says the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing him to close the business.  A Portland landmark, sited on NE Martin Luther King Blvd and NE Killingsworth St., Geneva's has been a beacon of black hair design for the last 30 years.

In a letter, thanking his staff and explaining the decision Mr Knauls said:

"As you know COVID 19 has had devastating effect on so many businesses large and small including Geneva's Shear Perfection.

"Gov. Brown's most recent mandatory restrictions ... have made it just about impossible for most salons to continue functioning.

"Therefore it is with a heavy heart that after almost 30 years Geneva's Shear Perfection will not reopen.

"I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to all who have stuck with our family for so many years.

"Thank you for your dedication and professionalism."
