The Economic Development Conference (EDC) of the National Organization of Black County Officials Inc. (NOBCO) is held annually in various counties across the United States.

This year, the 2017 EDC was hosted by Multnomah County and held at the Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront, from May 31 to June 4.

County Commissioner Loretta Smith, who sits on the board of the NOBCO, headed the conference events.

In attendance was special guest and national civil rights leader Jesse Jackson.

After learning of the slayings on the MAX train, Jackson asked Commissioner Smith to gather community clergy to host a breakfast.

The EDC is a forum for learning more about innovative ideas and progressive programs to enrich your impact as county officials and leaders. NOBCO’s EDC is a time to network with other county officials, business leaders, government officials, and community service providers.
