Portland Prime hosted an evening with the author and intellectual Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Monday, Feb. 22. The event was in honor of Black History Month. Dr. Dyson gave a speech and answered questions from the audience. He was also on hand to sign copies of his new book, "The Black Presidency."

Judge Adrienne Nelson recieved an award that night in honor of her being the second African American female judge to be appointed in the State of Oregon.

The night also honored David Lattin, a member of the 1969 Texas Western Miner’s basketball team. Mr. Lattin was on the first all African American team to win a NCAA championship defeating Kentucky team coached by Adolph Rupp and guard Pat Riley. The movie Glory Road is based on this historic time.
