Bennie Allen

Portland resident Bennie L. Allen died Nov. 30. She was 64.
Born on Oct. 7, 1941, in Little Rock, Ark., she was a nurse for Legacy Emanuel Hospital. Ms. Allen had lived in the Portland area for 58 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Nichole Allen, of Gresham; and sons Fred Bennett Jr. and Alex Johnson-Allen, both of Portland.
Funeral was Dec. 9 at Bethel AME Church, followed by burial in Rose City Cemetery. Arrangements by Cox & Cox Funeral Chapel.

Hillard Cooke

Portland resident Hillard Eugene Cooke Sr. died Jan. 1. He was 59.
Born on Oct. 30, 1946, in Berwind, W.Va., he was a self-employed painting contractor. Mr. Cooke had lived in the Portland area since 1962. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Cooke.
Other survivors include daughters Lynette Anderson and Pamela Cooke; and a son, Tyrin Cooke Sr.
Home-going celebration was Jan. 10 at Daniels Memorial Church of God in Christ, followed by burial in RoseCityCemetery. Arrangements by Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home.

William Goodlow

Portland resident William L. Goodlow died Jan. 10. He was 71.
Born on Sept. 25, 1934, in Galesburg, Ill., he was a self-employed mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (People) Goodlow, whom he married in 1970.
He is survived by daughters Pamela Sundelius, Becky Smith, Leslie Goodlow-Baldwin and Lori Goodlow; and by sons William Goodlow, David Goodlow, Barri Scott, Michael Goodlow, Kevin Davis and Jason Davis.
Memorial service was Jan. 14 at Ross Hollywood Funeral Home.

Jimmy Johnson

Portland resident Jimmy Johnson died Jan. 10. He was 83.
Born on March 16, 1922, in McNeil, Ark., he was a railroad track repairman. Mr. Johnson had lived in the Portland area for 53 years. His longtime wife, Mary Alice Johnson, whom he married in 1943, also passed on Jan. 10.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Sylvester Driver, of Camden, Ark.
Graveside service was Jan. 16 at Skyline Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Cox & Cox Funeral Chapel.
