Eicca Smith was born Dec. 5, 1960 in Salina, Kan., to Zara Curtis and Samuel Haggart (now deceased). He moved to Portland from Kansas in 1965, and attended Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Ore.
Smith was the owner and operator of Priority Living Residential Care Homes in Portland. Before going into business for himself, Eicca worked for the Oregon State Hospital as a behavioral specialist.
Eicca is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lynda Smith. Together, he and Lynda enjoyed traveling throughout the country, taking in a movie and shopping together. Eicca and Lynda had three children: Jessica Morgan, Scott Smith and Eicca Smith Jr.
In his spare time, Smith enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family — especially the light of his life, his first and only grandchild, Preston. He had a passion for helping others, and enjoyed working with the mentally disabled.
Smith is survived by his children, Jessica Morgan, Scott Smith and Eicca Smith Jr.; one grandchild, Preston Canton; a brother, James Morris; and three sisters, Charlesetta Lucas, Kimberly Langston and Cecilia Smith.
Eicca will be missed and loved by many. In addition to his family, he leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held Thursday, June 29, at Cox & Cox Funeral Chapel, followed by interment at Willamette National Cemetery.
