Come support the Leisure Hour Jr. Golf Program, which will be selling fireworks for the holiday weekend starting on June 30 and going until July 4 in Portland. For information about the program, visit their website
Two fireworks booths will be set-up on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Ainsworth Street for the program's largest fund-raiser of the year.
"This is our second year having the fireworks fundraiser in Portland," said Debra Moaning, President of LHJGP. "With the support and dedication that we received from the community last year, we are very pleased to come back and help the families of Portland celebrate their Fourth of July holiday."
The Western States Golf Association will celebrate its 30th anniversary of sponsoring an annual golf tournament, held in Oakland, Calif. where the junior golfers will compete among 150 junior golfers from Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada and Washington. The three-day tournament will take place on Aug. 4th through Aug. 6. Proceeds from the fund-raiser will go directly to supporting the junior golfers of Portland with their meals and travel arrangements.
The Leisure Hour Jr. Golf Program was founded in 1947, in Portland with a commitment to help youth in the community learn the game of golf. Thirty-two years later the program has an enrollment of more than 120 golfers ranging in age from 7 to 23. The program provides classroom instructions, one-on-one instructions with mentors and professional golfers and access to several golf courses in Portland.
