The Oregon Humane Society says it is releasing about 40 small breed dogs for adoption on Wednesday.
The public is invited to meet the dogs starting at 10 am at the OHS shelter at 1067 NE Columbia Blvd. in Portland.
The breeds include Yorkshire terriers, Bison Frises, Cairn terriers, Pomeranians and others and range in age from 2 to 12 years old.
"These dogs have lived their lives in a commercial breeding operation. For most of them, this will be their first chance to become part of a loving family," said OHS Executive Director Sharon Harmon. "We've been working with these dogs since last Thursday, and everyone on the staff is impressed by the affection they show and how eager they are to be with people."
Each dog has also been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and provided with an identifying microchip
Adoption fees range from $150 to $250 and include many extras. For directions to the shelter, call (503) 285-7722 or visit www.oregonhumane.org. OHS cannot answer questions about the dogs over the phone, but will post a profile of each dog on the OHS Web site beginning at 7 p.m. on March 30.
