Jim Hill has withdrawn as a candidate for the Oregon State Treasurer's office. The news broke Thursday afternoon at blueoregon.com.
A subsequent search of candidates for the 2010 Oregon Primary no longer includes his name. Hill was a former state treasurer and one of seven African American candidates statewide – a number which is now at three after Margaret Carter withdrew from the race for County Chair Ted Wheeler's seat yesterday. Wheeler was appointed state treasurer by Gov. Ted Kulongoski after the death of Ben Westlund and will be running for the seat in the primary election.
Still running are Lew Frederick for state representative; Roberta Phillip, Loretta Smith and Karol Collymore for Jeff Cogen's Multnomah County Commissioner seat; and Muhammad Ra'oof for Multnomah County Sheriff.
