The Portland Committee on Community-Engaged Policing is hosting a Portland Street Response (PSR) Town Hall, on March 27, 6-8:30 p.m. at The Melody Event Center, 615 Southeast Alder Street, in Portland. Free parking and food will be provided.

PCCEP is a group of 13 community members who are independent from the city and Portland Police Bureau (PPB). It was created as one of the remedies of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Settlement Agreement to ensure community voice is a part of policing and public safety in Portland.

PCCEP is seeking community input to help shape their recommendation in support of Portland Street Response. Under the settlement agreement, the mayor is required to formally respond to PCCEP recommendations within 60 days. PCCEP plans to submit their recommendation in advance of the mayor’s proposed budget this spring.

The City of Portland is reconfiguring its administrative structure as it prepares for the government transition in 2025. PCCEP wants to make sure PSR weathers these changes to become a permanent, resilient and effective part of the city’s public safety system.

Participate in person at the Melody Event Center or virtually via Zoom (Meeting ID: 858 8014 0373, Password: 657026).

Members of the public may also submit written public comment for this event or for anything else they want PCCEP to discuss in the future.
