On March 20, Amelia Snyder was named a princess of this year's court. Amelia is a senior at St. Mary’s Academy and expects to graduate this June. After graduation, Amelia will pursue a career as a physician.

Amelia remains dedicated to representing her school and community on the court. “St. Mary’s has meant a lot to me, as it has been a catalyst for my confidence and leadership abilities.” Says Amelia. “Thus, I would be honored to represent my school and be a role model for others to gain such leadership throughout their high school career. I also understand that, among many places in Oregon, LGBTQ+ youth don’t always feel represented or seen. As a bisexual woman, I hope to make them feel seen and valued in any way possible.”

Looking forward to the Portland Rose Festival festivities, Amelia fondly recalls the Grand Floral Parade as a cherished event. “The Grand Floral Parade will always hold a special place in my heart.” Amelia shares, “In middle school, I was in one of the many bands who got the opportunity to march in the parade. Holding my mellophone, I marched in step with my peers and felt the joy of being one piece of a beautiful, musical whole."
