Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest is pleased to announce Korede Alabi as the new and first Black Chair of the Board of Directors. Korede leads the 23-member Board of Directors for a two-year term starting January 2022.

Korede is the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at General Sheet Metal. He is a multi-faceted finance thought leader with a proven track record of driving growth and increasing efficiency. Previous positions with American Airlines, General Electric, and Vestas developed his entrepreneurial energy and sharpened his focus on driving businesses to the next level.

As a strong advocate for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Korede is excited to contribute his expertise to the organization’s growth and impact in the community. Korede is committed to investing in the next generation and serving as an ambassador for the organization’s mission to defend the potential of youth through one-to-one mentoring relationships.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS)

BBBS is a local, private non-profit organization affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Founded in 2002, it serves as one of the Portland-Vancouver region’s largest youth mentoring organizations and achieved a 95% high school graduation rate this past year for its mentees, far above the region’s overall graduation rate of 80.6%. More than 8,500 local children have been matched with a volunteer Big Brother or Sister, creating life-changing bonds that empower them to achieve their full potential.
