judy fambrough introJudy Fambrough-BillingsleyThe Genealogical Forum of Oregon’s African American Special Interest group has scheduled Judy Fambrough-Billingsley, author of "Too Brown to Keep:  A Search for Love, Forgiveness, and Healing," to present a Zoom webinar on Saturday, April 24, noon to 2 p.m. PT. The webinar is open to the public at no cost.

Farmbrough-Billingsley was abandoned by her biological parents after World War II to live in a kinderheim (orphanage) until adopted. From an early age she knew she was an international biracial adoptee, daughter of a white German woman and a Black American soldier. This memoir describes her quest to find both birth parents and to discover her roots. Many family secrets and public rejection by some members of her newly discovered family led to forgiveness and healing, with the last chapter a guide to researching your own ancestry or finding a long-lost family member/friend.

Fambrough-Billingsley was raised and educated in Bakersfield, Calif., and holds a master's degree in education administration. She lives in Elk Grove, Calif.
