On April 4, 2018, Metro, Oregon AFSCME and COGIC invite the community to come together in celebration to honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy.
This isn’t just a reflection on the past. It is an urgent call to fight poverty and prejudice, advance the freedom of all working people, and remind America that there can be no racial justice without economic justice and no economic justice without racial justice.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. April at the Oregon Convention Center Portland Ballroom. The event includes a unity invocation, presentations by community leaders from faith, labor and public service; music, artwork and storytelling by special youth guests; a call to action reception to engage, motivate and act to fight for racial and economic justice.
This event is free, but seating is limited; RSVP at at oregonmetro.gov/iam2018.
