The historic Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church of Portland invites the community at large to attend the Annual Family Day Easter Worship Services. Beginning March 30, Good Friday Worship Services are planned. Noted National Clergy, Dr. James Forbes, Pastor Emeritus, of the Riverside Church in New York City will deliver the annual Good Friday address.

On Easter Sunday, April 1, the theme for the day is “Jesus is the Light of the World”. Beginning at 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., the Sunrise Service commences with the Annual Resurrection Proclamation.

At 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., join family and friends at the free community Annual Brotherhood Union Sunday Easter Brunch in the Dr. & Mrs. O. B. Williams Fellowship Hall; reservations are required (503) 282-9496.

At 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the 74th Annual Sunday School Program starts, a theatrical depiction entitled the “The Lord Supper” with cast members from the church and community.

At 10:45 a.m., the Annual Family & Friends Easter Sunday Worship and Communion Service begin, the Pastor J.W. Matt Hennessee will deliver the morning Easter message of the season. The Junior Angel Children’s Easter Chorale will render music selections, along with the Easter Gospel Mass Choir and the High Praise Dance Team also scheduled to appear.

Parking is available at the Legacy Emanuel Parking Lot located at North Monroe and Vancouver Avenue. For those needing transportation to one or more of the 2018 Easter programs, the church is offering free shuttle service in North/North Portland area; please contact the church office directly to schedule a pick-up time.
