Judge Adrienne Nelson, CJ Robbins and Bernie and Bobbie Foster were honored Thursday evening, Oct. 20, by the Boy Scouts of America Cascade Pacific Council. The 2016 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Awards commemorate outstanding services by individuals and organizations that provide scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds.

The event was held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club and emceed by Marc Di Francisco.

Nelson and the Fosters received the 2016 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award. Robbins received the Raven M. Caywood Emerging Leader Award for his work with Black Male Achievement providing opportunity to young Black men. 

The award is named for Whitney M. Young, Jr. who helped transform the National Urban League into an organization that fights for equity, opportunity for the disenfranchised. The award was created in 1979 and has been given for 36 years.
