40 Years of Service

A medical marijuana organization is holding a protest against The Oregonian's editorial board for calling into question the legitimacy of cannabis' medical benefits and questioning the motivation of those using cannabis to alleviate pain.
Oregon Green Free is leading the protest on Thursday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m. at 1320 SW Broadway in Downtown.

New strategy aims to stop virus spread

President Barack Obama said Tuesday a new strategy for combating HIV and AIDS fulfills America's obligation to stop the spread of the virus and rooting out the inequities and attitudes on which it thrives.
The strategy sets a goal of reducing new infections by 25 percent during the next five years; getting treatment for 85 percent of patients within three months of their diagnosis; and increasing education about the virus, even in communities with low rates of infection.

From counseling for kids who struggle with their weight, to cancer screenings for their parents, preventive health care will soon be available at no out-of-pocket cost under consumer rules the Obama administration unveiled last week.
