Hit Singer Jeremih Builds Business Success

When Jeremih first contemplated a career in music, it wasn't silky soul, but rap that intrigued him the most. ``I had so many beats on my computer (and) people were telling my I sounded like I could be the next so-and-so,'' says Jeremih (pronounced JEHR'-uh-meye). ``But after all the beats and rhymes, I felt like everybody around me was rapping and so I was like, 'I got to do something to stand out' ... so I started singing.'' ...

Congressional Black Caucus Anticipates Greater Power

WASHINGTON (NNPA) – The 41-member Congressional Black Caucus, which often describes itself as the "conscience of the Congress," is anticipating a power surge next week as one of its former members takes the oath of office as president of the United States.
"As I stand here today, I can tell you with certainty that these 41 members of the Congressional Black Caucus recognizes that this is our moment," said U. S. Rep. Barbara Lee, the new chairwoman of the 40-year-old caucus at the group's ceremonial swearing in last week.

Harold's Serves Up Bbq with a Northwest Flair

Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois and Texas. These are just a few of the states that Harold Harrison visited in his search to discover the perfect barbecue recipe. Traveling to cook-offs across the country Harrison learned from the experts: the folks who love to eat authentic, succulent, fall off the bone barbecue.
"I used to work at a barbecue place on Vancouver, the Pig on the Pit," he told The Skanner. "I knew there was something different – a better way to cook this barbecue, so I went east and down south to find out."
