City Council Delays Vote on 2030 Bike Plan

After several hours of testimony on Feb. 4, with few detractors, Portland City Council delayed the vote on the Portland Bicycle Plan for 2030.“I think this is going to pass folks, don’t worry about it,” Mayor Sam Adams said.
Commissioner Dan Saltzman said he had concerns about solidifying funding mechanisms before voting on the plan. Commissioner Amanda Fritz also has some questions about concerns about safety raised by several citizens.

Oregon Lawmaker Wants to Ban Plastic Grocery Bags

SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- An Oregon legislator wants to ban single-use plastic bags from the state\'s checkout stands.The measure being led by Sen. Mark Hass, D-Beaverton, would still allow paper sacks, but is aimed at getting people to use reusable bags.
Hass tells The Oregonian that plastic bags contribute to litter, are hard to recycle, hurt marine life and are made from fossil fuels.
His bill is considered a long shot in the monthlong session that began Monday.
