“We are excited to have Jeff on board,” said Dante James, director of the Office of Equity. “I believe his combination of branding and communication skills will help the Equity and Human Rights team establish processes that will help City employees and Portlanders to better understand the mission of our office and associated commissions.”
Selby will be responsible for coordinating internal and external communications for the office and helping guide and facilitate the Commission and its subcommittees.
Selby has a 20-year commitment to the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), the nation’s oldest Asian American civil rights advocacy group.
Portland’s Office of Equity and Human Rights provides education and technical support to City staff and elected officials, leading to recognition and removal of systemic barriers to fair and just distribution of resources, access, and opportunity; starting with issues of race and disability.
