National Guard


The Skanner Foundation is committed to the growth and development of America's youth and aids in helping talented young Americans pursue higher education. Through gifts provided by our corporate sponsors and individuals, The Skanner is able to provide scholarships to deserving college students on an equal opportunity basis regardless of race, sex, creed, or religious preference. Scholarships of $1,000 were presented to local graduating seniors and students working toward academic degrees. The scholarships are presented annually at the foundation's Martin Luther King Breakfast.



PACIFIC NW COUNCIL OF CARPENTERS Doug Tweedy presents a scholarship to Darrell Keys, who is attending Hampton University. Accepting for Keys is Ralph Nickerson.



OREGON LOTTERY Steve Ungar presented four scholarships:  Pictured above is Marneet Lewis, a student at Warner Pacific University;

Kaitlan Purkapile is a student at Portland Community College;

A scholarship was also awarded to Natalyia Payne, attending Portland State University



PORTLAND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Executive Director, Patrick Quinton, presented the scholarship for Deanna Hartley, who is attending Georgetown University. Accepting is her sister Rachael.


UNIVERSITY OF OREGON Roger Thompson, Vice-Provost of Enrollment Management, presented a scholarship to Veronica Medhanie, attending the University of Oregon
