Local hip hop artist and philanthropist Ozone is once again holding the Hot Nights & Warm Coats clothing drive for local students. For the third year in a row now, Ozone's event will seek "gently used" coats to benefit Impact NW this Saturday, Sept. 18 at Creston Park, 4454 SE Powell Blvd. in Portland.
From 4 to 9 p.m., there will be free barbecue, drinks and fun. This event will not feature amplified music, but "that however, has never stopped anyone I know from rapping," says Ozone. The event will go on rain or shine.
All the coats collected at the event will be donated by Impact NW to low-income children and children from single parent households. The goal is provide students with basic building blocks of self-esteem to encourage their attendance in school.
Ozone is also the man behind such events as Foodwars 3, which raised over 9,000 cans of food earlier this year.
