The Green Shadow Cabinet is an organization offering alternative policies to the dysfunctional government in Washington, DC. It is not affiliated with any other political party.

The Green Shadow Cabinet provides an alternative voice to the dysfunctional government in Washington D.C. It responds to actions of the government in office and demonstrates that another government is possible. This cabinet is led by the Green Party presidential nominees.

On November 20, 2013 Bill Moyers talked with Jill Stein, presidential nominee, and Margaret Flowers, secretary of health nominee, about their personal journeys fighting for policy change -- including arrests for acts of civil disobedience.

Both saw that holding political office largely depended on how much money you have, which in turn enabled injustices to be fashioned into law and public policy. Outraged and angry, they decided to stand up and take action.

Jill Stein and Margaret Flowers left their careers behind as medical doctors. Stein says "When people ask me 'what kind of medicine are you practicing?' I usually say, 'I'm practicing political medicine because it's the mother of all illnesses. Once you start speaking truth to power and standing up for the right things, it's very empowering."
