Don't miss the upcoming lecture by Dr. Julian Agyeman on environmental issues at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Hollywood Theatre.

The lecture and discussion is being held as a part of the Portland Plan's Inspiring Communities Series. The Portland Plan is a 25-year visionary strategy to help the city cope with some of its major, long-term goals.

Agyeman is a professor and chair of the Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning Department at Tufts University. The evening's events will be introduced by Mayor Sam Adams, followed by the keynote address and then a discussion with Marcus Mundy, president and CEO of the Urban League of Portland; Jonathan Ostar, co-director of Environmental Justice Oregon; and Ronault "Polo" Catalani with the Portland Office of Human Relations. Admission to the event is free and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.  

The speaker's series features some of the "best and brightest" thinkers on issues surrounding economic development, city planning and environment.

The next event will be held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the Multnomah Arts Center, 7688 SW Capitol Highway and will feature Cynthia Girling, a professor of Lanscape Architecture at University of British Columbia and Ronald Kellet, one of Girling's colleagues.

On Jan. 17, Robert Weissbourd, of RW Ventures, LLC, will speak about economic development at 7 p.m. at Mercy Corps Action Center, 28 1st Ave.
