Portland police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to hospital with a gunshot injury.

The victim in the overnight shooting in Northeast Portland's King neighborhood has been identified as 26-year-old Michael Damone Kent Jr., a resident of Northeast Portland. Kent suffered a single gunshot wound to the neck and is expected to survive his injuries.
 
Kent was shot around 12:34 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 15, in the 4900 block of Northeast 6th Avenue, in front of King Elementary School.
 
Officers discovered an young adult man in his 20s with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with potential life-threatening injuries.
 
Police believe the victim was shot while seated inside a vehicle. They have revised earlier accounts to say that the shooter was a man of unidentified race, wearing dark-colored shorts and a dark hoodie who was last seen running southbound through King School Park.
