The man suspected of killing four Lakewood police officers was shot dead at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to police.
Maurice Clemmons was killed after approaching a police officer who was running a routing check on a stolen vehicle. Police say Clemmons was trying to pull something out of his pocket and refused to obey orders to show his hands when the Seattle officer opened fire. Clemens was armed with a handgun stolen from one of the officers he is accused of killing.
Several other people have been taken into custody, accused of aiding Clemmons avoid detection by law enforcement.
