The Portland North club of Soroptimist International, an international organization of business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world, is currently accepting applications for two awards.
The first award, Women of Opportunity Award, is for a woman that is a head of household, returning or in-school and in financial need. The second award is for a young woman ages 14-17 that has performed volunteer work in her community.
"There are so many spectacular girls and women in our community and we know that many are struggling financially," said Evie Salvo, SIPN president. "We really want to help."
Additional information and applications for the awards can be found on their website at
www.siportlandnorth.com . Both awards are for $1000 and a short essay is required along with the application. For more information call 971-570-5215.
